WORK TYPE: Hybrid - 4 days in office / 1 day remote
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Jr. UX Designer is responsible for executing real design tasks within digital feature products used by thousands of teams across the country. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in product design, including UI design, component development, and research execution, with close mentorship from senior team members. The successful candidate will gain production experience from day one, participate in usability testing sessions, and contribute to design critiques, all while learning industry standards for accessibility, content, and developer handoff.
We are the UX team behind how athletes, coaches, parents, and club leaders experience sport across BSN SPORTS and the broader Varsity Brands portfolio. We turn complex, high-impact challenges into intuitive products and experiences that people value and enjoy using. As a growing, collaborative team, we offer meaningful ownership, purposeful ways of working, and the opportunity to influence both the product roadmap and the future of experience design.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Designs individual screens and component variants within feature products under the direction of senior design team members.
  • Shadows usability testing sessions and helps prepare task scripts, audience selection, and participant screeners to support research efforts.
  • Learns and applies the team's content standards, accessibility checklist, and developer handoff process across all design work.
  • Participates actively in design critique sessions and iterates quickly on feedback from senior designers and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to design user-centered solutions that balance user needs with business requirements and technical constraints.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale through presentations and documentation to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to receive and integrate feedback constructively in a collaborative design environment.
  • Knowledge of foundational UX research methods including usability testing and heuristic evaluation.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines at an introductory level.
  • Proficient in Figma for wireframing, visual design, and component creation.
  • Proficient in using AI tools to accelerate design drafts, research synthesis, and documentation.

Education, Certification and Experience
  • Formal education or certification in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field required; or equivalent portfolio-demonstrated skill.
  • Portfolio required showing design process and problem-solving approach, not just polished final screens.
  • 0-2+ years of professional or project-based design experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or capstone project involving ecommerce, B2B tools, or configurator and customization products.
  • Exposure to or coursework in WCAG accessibility guidelines.
