Overview
We are seeking a full-time Project Manager 2 Engineering at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing medium to large engineering projects of average complexity including development and execution of project plans and reporting of project status.
Essential Functions
  • Supports project management process improvements and may mentor less experienced Project Managers
  • May manage medium sized projects across business units with moderate guidance
  • Applies project management skills on medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, including understanding, developing and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisions
  • Applies product domain knowledge, full use of accepted processes, procedures, tools and requirements
  • Demonstrates product domain knowledge, full use of accepted processes, procedures, tools and requirements
  • Identifies and supports process improvement activities
  • Drives projects to closure, applies good judgment in identifying issues and risks, creates mitigation plans with assistance from mentor or direct supervisor

  • Demonstrates communication skills, including effective listening, responding appropriately, and managing difficult conversations
  • Builds relationships and gains alignment within the department

  • Ensures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed of project scope, schedule and cost

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Experience as a Project Manager working on Web/Mobile projects
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and demonstrate excellent time management, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) or similar
