Class Summary ************** THIS IS NOT THE ENTRY-LEVEL FIREFIGHTER POSITION ************** Job Description This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace. Applicants must pass a comprehensive background investigation including criminal, controlled substance, driving, employment history checks, an oral interview, medical exam including drug screen, psychological and physical agility testing. This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and fingerprinting. Grade The Grade for this position is FF233. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

$59,079 - $94,588 Starting Salary $60,851 - $97,425 3% pay incentive for an Associate degree $62,623 - $100,263 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree Incentive: $2,000 Hiring Incentive within first year of employment - This is for new Gwinnett County employees only (not rehires). Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Valid Driver's License from state of residency; Current Georgia Paramedic certification and/or current National Registry Paramedic certification Additional Courses to be completed as required: Firefighter I Certification (Must be obtained within one year); NPQ Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification (Must be obtained within one year) To be considered for this position, you must attach: (1) A copy of your High School diploma or G.E.D
