Job description

Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer, Nuclear Plant Aging Management

Do you want your first years in industry to directly support a cleaner energy future? Step into a role where your mechanical engineering skills help safeguard the performance and longevity of nuclear power plants around the world.

Why this role matters

Fatigue and aging are inevitable—managing them well is not. Your analysis and problem-solving will help prevent issues before they start, improve plant operations, and inform decisions from initial design through decommissioning.

Your impact
  • Investigate how materials and components behave under cyclic loads and over time, and translate that into actionable recommendations.
  • Gain working knowledge spanning design, construction, operations, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
  • Tackle cross-functional challenges with teams focused on elevating build quality and operational reliability.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, nurturing professional relationships and delivering clear technical guidance.
  • Expand your perspective on both U.S. and global nuclear markets and standards.
Where and how you'll work

Report to the Manager, Fatigue Aging Management for Reactor Component Engineering. This position is based at Westinghouse Headquarters in Cranberry, PA (Greater Pittsburgh Area) with a hybrid work arrangement at the manager’s discretion. No relocation assistance will be provided for this position.

What it takes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required (candidates from other engineering disciplines will not be considered).
  • 3.0 minimum GPA.
  • Comfort with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and a passion for applying mechanics to real-world systems.
Pay and benefits

Salary range: $58,400–$73,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive medical, wellness, and income protection coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program for you and eligible household members
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacations and holidays
  • Opportunities for flexible work arrangements
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Employee referral program
