Job Description

The Actuarial Analyst I position is for entry-level actuarial students.The responsibilities of this position primarily involve learning to perform and communicate complex actuarial analyses such as actuarial exhibits, pricing, loss reserving, financial planning, modeling, other dataanalysesand other tasks as assigned.This position supports the core actuarial functions (i.e.pricing, reserving, modeling, etc.) responsible for ensuring profitability, growth, and the financial strength of the organization.Significantmanagementoversight,review,and guidance will berequired.


This is a 100%in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Learns fundamental actuarial principles which the Actuarial Analyst Iappliesin analyzing company and industry data to prepare actuarial analyses,in accordance withthe "CAS code of Professional Conduct" and the Actuarial Standards of Practice.

  • Prepares summaries of actuarial analyses for distribution to Home Office and Field management, other American National departments, consultants, reinsurers, and regulators.

  • Learnsprocesses and begins to perform and document actuarial analyses promptly and accurately.

  • Learnsandbeginsto use spreadsheets, databases, and sources of data used in actuarial analyses.

  • Prepares for and progresses in the CAS examinations through on-the-job and home study.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • ABachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical background isrequired.

  • No experiencerequired.

  • Supervisory/management experiencenotrequired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of 100 exam points is preferred.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will becommensuratewith candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost oflaborin that location.

  • Albany and Chicago Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000
