Entry Level Facilities Assistant

Classification: Non-Exempt
Status: Regular, Full-Time
Work Year: 12-Month

Position Overview

The Facilities Assistant supports the daily operations, upkeep, and appearance of campus facilities and grounds. This entry-level role assists the Facilities team with event set-ups, moving furniture and supplies, painting, basic maintenance support, deliveries, and general campus upkeep. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, physically capable, eager to learn new skills, and interested in developing within the facilities and maintenance field.

The Facilities Assistant works closely with the Maintenance Technician team to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across classrooms, offices, athletic facilities, common areas, Boarding & Convent living spaces, and outdoor campus areas.

Key ResponsibilitiesCampus Support & Event Operations
  • Assist with daily event set-ups and breakdowns, including tables, chairs, staging, and furniture moves
  • Move boxes, equipment, supplies, and deliveries across campus
  • Support department relocations, room resets, and campus organization projects
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and facilities workspaces
Facilities & Maintenance Support
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with general maintenance and repair projects
  • Support painting, touch-up work, pressure washing, and basic campus repairs
  • Help maintain exterior campus areas including walkways, athletic areas, and outdoor common spaces
  • Assist with campus inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Support minor repairs and maintenance projects as directed
Grounds & General Labor
  • Perform physical labor related to campus operations and special projects
  • Assist with trash removal, cleaning projects, and campus upkeep
  • Support outdoor furniture, umbrellas, athletic equipment, and event equipment setup
  • Assist during emergencies, weather preparation, and campus-wide operational needs
Team & Professional Development
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and Academy policies
  • Learn basic maintenance, facilities, and operational skills through on-the-job training
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities team and other departments
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
 Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, moving, warehouse, construction, landscaping, or general labor preferred but not required
  • Willingness to learn maintenance and facilities operations skills
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid California driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to comply with state, parish, and federal regulations
  • Must be in good health and able to pass a physical examination
Physical & Work Environment
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving of boxes, furniture, and equipment up to 50 lbs; occasional team lifting over 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work throughout the workday
Compensation & Benefits

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy offers a competitive salary of $18.00 – $22.00 per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
