Position Description:
We are looking for an Entry Level Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and zero to three years of experience. Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication/coordination skills are essential.
This position will design electrical installation and protective relaying and control (PR&C) components for electrical substation projects, including but not limited to, substation equipment layout, detailed electrical installation design, and PR&C design steel design, in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.
This position requires periods of intense concentration. This position is hybrid, with the option to be within a normal office environment, work fully remote, or a combination thereof. This position requires infrequent travel.
This position will provide frequent exposure to electrical design standards and codes, including but not limited to, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NESC.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Perform high voltage substation design, including electrical installation design and PR&C design with an emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Prepare one-line diagrams, electrical installation plans, electrical installation section views, electrical installation details, below grade grounding & conduit plans, and cable schedules in accordance with governing industry code and client standards
  • Prepare panel elevations and PR&C schematic, wiring, and interconnection diagrams in accordance with governing industry code and client standards
  • Prepare auxiliary power equipment sizing calculations
  • Perform complex engineering calculations/studies related to substation projects such as: lightning protection, conduit fill, AC/DC station service loading, surge arrester sizing and voltage drop
  • Create SCADA RTU control, status and analog point lists
  • Prepare construction drawings with the assistance of a designer/technician competent in the use of industry standard CADD software, and in accordance with client standards
  • Prepare construction specifications, project documents, and bill of material lists, in accordance with both client and industry standards
  • Attend site visits as required
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Assist Project Managers as needed
  • Attend client, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
  • Attend seminars and/or training classes
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Skills/Experience:
  • 0 to 3 years of related experience required
  • Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu is preferred
