Systems Administrator

This is a full-time employee position. It is a hybrid position: part-in office (Salt Lake City, Utah) and part-time remote position.

Position Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to bring a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator into a dynamic and growing team. The Systems Administrator will be pivotal in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's computing systems, networks, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities will cover a wide range, including the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software.

As a key point of contact for end-user support and help desk operations, the Systems Administrator will be integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the business. Their growing technical skills and strong problem-solving skills will be vital in optimizing the company's technological framework and maintaining the infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive technical support and guidance to end users and colleagues and deliver training on new software applications.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise platforms, including onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Manage and prioritize the IT help desk queue, ensuring tickets are resolved or escalated appropriately within established SLAs.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve system and network performance issues, including troubleshooting problems reported by users, ensuring network connectivity and availability.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, including hardware lifecycle tracking, procurement coordination, and surplus/disposal processes.
  • Collaborate with senior systems engineers on server provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Execute system updates and patches under established schedules; escalate issues and suggest improvements to senior staff to help maintain high levels of system availability and reliability.
  • Assist with tracking expenditures related to IT hardware and software procurement.
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and special reports, keeping management informed by summarizing information, identifying trends, and generating reports.
  • Administer end-user devices, printers, and VoIP phones; assist senior staff with network and firewall administration.
  • Follow established security policies and assist with implementing security best practices across endpoints and user accounts.
  • Deploy and manage endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune, including software deployment and device compliance policies.
  • Maintain a proactive approach towards professional development by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Be available in the office during core business hours with extended hours as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • 1-3 years of related experience, including internship, academic lab, or entry-level experience in IT support, system administration, or related area.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks appropriately with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Windows 11, macOS, Ubuntu, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or related fields.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or similar endpoint management platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Freshdesk, ITSM 360) is a plus.
  • Professional certification (CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, CCNA) is a plus.
