Position Summaryย 
The Electrical Technician 1 plays a critical role in supporting the installation and maintenance of intricate building systems under the guidance of senior electricians or electrical engineers. This position focuses on ensuring the functionality and safety compliance of essential systems, including power distribution, lighting,ย andย ย lowย voltageย systems. Key responsibilities include assisting with electrical installations, performing routine maintenance and repairs, and interpreting technical schematics. The technicianย is responsible forย testing and calibrating systems using specialized tools and mustย maintainย an organized, safe job site while documenting daily activities and technical reports.ย 

Candidates shouldย possessย a basic understanding of electrical theories and the National Electrical Code (NEC), along with familiarity with hand and power tools. Strong math and analytical skills areย requiredย forย accurateย measurements and calculations, and physical stamina is essential due to the demanding nature of the work environment. Essential Functionsย 

  • Assistย in pulling wire, installing conduit, and supportingย rough-insย forย commercialย  projects.ย 

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance andย assistย in diagnosing or repairing malfunctioning equipment.ย 

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams toย determineย the placement of fixtures and outlets.ย 

  • Testing & Calibration:Use specialized tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters) to test system performance and ensure they meet building codes.ย 

  • Maintain tools and materials while keeping the job site clean and organized to ensure safety.ย 

  • Assistย in updating daily logs of activities and preparing basic technical reports.ย 

  • May give instruction, direction, and mentorship to others on the job site including an assigned helperย 

  • Gather/collate/classifyย informationย 

  • Coordinatesย with owner to ensureย job performance and satisfaction including job close-out, scheduling, andย safetyย ย reports.ย 

  • Selectsย typeย andย sizeย ofย conduit, wiring,ย andย relatedย materialsย andย equipmentย suchย asย supports,ย hangers,ย andย ย supports, according to specificationsย 

  • Inspects worksites toย determineย presence of obstructions and toย ascertainย thatย work performed willย not cause structural damageย 

  • Makes plans to coordinate job site materials, subcontracted work, job schedule, and job close-out documents.ย 

  • Plans installation and repair to avoid obstructionsย and to avoid interference with the activitiesย of otherย workersย

  • Conduit benders (manual and hydraulic)ย 

  • Wire strippers and crimpersย 

  • Multimeters, voltmeters, and ammetersย

  • NCCER Electrical Level 1 or 2ย
