KION North America, a leading provider of material handling solutions, is seeking an entry-level and highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team! The Mechanical Design Engineer utilizes knowledge, capabilities, and experience to support ongoing product improvements and to convert customer special requirements into technical product offerings on KION North America's powered industrial truck portfolio.We offer:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to improve (functionality, cost) the existing truck portfolio.
  • Support Production team in technical questions.
  • Design custom engineered solutions per specific customer requirements and applications.
  • Create Bills of Material, Drawings and Engineering Change Notices
  • Ensure that designs meet cost and technical targets as well as applicable standards
  • Effectively communicate with product management, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, and production teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization.
Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience with solid modeling and creating detailed drawings (Unigraphics NX preferred)
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge and understanding of design of welded structures, including symbols
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interpret standards and procedures (Familiarity with ITSDF, UL, ISO standards a plus)
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials within a MRP system (SAP preferred)
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Possess intercultural awareness. Must be able to work with multinational colleagues across a wide range of cultures

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSME or BSMET preferred)
