Job Description

Theโ€ฏEntry-Levelโ€ฏElectricalโ€ฏEngineer focuses on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systemsโ€ฏ(e.g., telephone/data, security, fire alarm), raceway, cable tray,ย and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit and voltage drop calculations; basis of design reports;ย code evaluations;โ€ฏone-line diagrams; plans; schedules; installation details; and coordination with manufacturers and construction tradeย partners.ย Tasks will include utilizingย software forย building information modeling,โ€ฏcomputer-aidedย draftingย andย engineeringย calculations.โ€ฏProject workโ€ฏwill beโ€ฏunder the direction of a more experienced engineer andโ€ฏmayโ€ฏincludeโ€ฏall levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, constructionโ€ฏdocumentation and construction administration.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 

Responsibilities

  • Worksย under the direction of a more experienced engineer to execute design responsibilities.โ€ฏย 
  • Designsย electrical systems of basic complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.ย ย 
  • Worksย closely with other architects, engineers and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.ย ย 
  • Performsย illumination calculations, power load calculations, conduit and wire sizing calculations, and other engineering calculations of basic complexity as required to confirm project requirements are met.โ€ฏย 
  • Developsย electrical systems documentation in the form of narratives, reports, drawings and diagrams to be used for construction of basic complexity.โ€ฏย 
  • Utilizesย various platforms to execute work, such as Microsoft Office products and available BIM software.โ€ฏย 
  • Attendsย professional development activities.โ€ฏย 
  • Conductsย basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures.โ€ฏย 
  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.ย ย 
Qualifications
  • ABET-accredited Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Engineering Technologyโ€ฏย 
  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm settingโ€ฏย 

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Relevant design firm experienceโ€ฏย 
  • Fundamentals of Engineeringย exam registration or completionโ€ฏย 
  • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power and special systems designsโ€ฏย 
  • Ability to interface with clients and external partnersโ€ฏย 
  • Ability to travel as required for client development and project executionโ€ฏย 
  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and providing support of field reporting activitiesโ€ฏย 
  • Proficient at fundamental electrical design calculations under the supervision of an engineerโ€ฏย 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Officeโ€ฏsuiteย 
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCADโ€ฏย
