Assistant Investment Analyst - DFH801

About the position

This is an entry-level position designed to fully immerse analysts in the buy-side investment management industry by working alongside HIMCO's Portfolio Management (PM) team. As a part of the PM team, the analyst will work to position the firm's investments to consistently meet client objectives in dynamic economic environments. Analysts will gain experience in all stages of the portfolio management process, including security selection, asset allocation, trade placement, performance monitoring, and portfolio rebalancing. The position will provide exposure to a variety of asset classes through consistent communication with sector heads, portfolio managers, traders, and fellow analysts. Analysts are offered extensive learning opportunities such as lunch and learns, early career development programming, and mentoring.

About the team

HIMCO is one of the most sophisticated asset managers in the insurance industry, with our wide array of investment strategies on behalf of our clients, which include the affiliated assets of The Hartford's Insurance Company. Our investment expertise spans across the public and private sectors, including bonds, public and private equity, and real estate/alternatives. Individuals coming into this program can be placed in any of these sectors.

What are we looking for?

Our team is looking for highly motivated individuals with a strong record of academic achievement, and:

Students with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and May 2027

Deep interest and basic knowledge of financial markets

Strong drive, attention to detail, and a self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including use of technology

Excellent time management, organizational and communications skills

Some business related course work is preferred (e.g. finance, economics, mathematics, computer science etc.) and/or student investment or finance club experience.

Advanced proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office, Excel and MS Access

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$80,062 - $94,938
