How much do entry level digital logic design jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 27, 2026, the average yearly pay for entry level digital logic design in the United States is $139,368.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $136,000.00 and $136,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of projects or tasks can an entry level digital logic design engineer expect to work on in their first year?

As an entry level digital logic design engineer, you will typically be involved in tasks such as creating and simulating basic digital circuits using hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, assisting senior engineers with verification and testing, and supporting the design of small modules within larger systems. You might also participate in team meetings to discuss design requirements and reviews, and work closely with layout, verification, and firmware teams. These experiences provide you with a solid foundation in design methodologies and tools, while offering opportunities to learn from more experienced colleagues.

What are entry level digital logic design jobs?

Entry level digital logic design jobs involve creating and testing digital circuits and systems, typically using hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog. These roles often include tasks such as designing combinational and sequential logic, simulating circuit behavior, and working with field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) or application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Entry level positions are ideal for recent graduates in electrical or computer engineering and provide foundational experience for a career in hardware design.

What jobs use digital logic design?

Entry-level digital logic design skills are used in roles such as digital design engineer, FPGA/ASIC design engineer, embedded systems engineer, and hardware test engineer. These jobs typically involve designing, testing, and implementing digital circuits using tools like VHDL or Verilog and require knowledge of digital systems and circuit analysis.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, petroleum engineering, or aerospace engineering can earn $300,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and in high-demand industries. Executive or managerial roles in engineering companies may also reach this compensation level, often including bonuses and stock options.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Digital Logic Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Digital Logic Design Engineer, you need a solid understanding of digital circuits, Boolean algebra, and hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, usually backed by a degree in electrical or computer engineering. Familiarity with simulation tools (such as ModelSim or Quartus), schematic capture software, and FPGA development boards is typically required. Effective problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong teamwork and communication skills help you excel in collaborative design environments. These skills ensure accurate, efficient circuit implementation and successful integration within engineering teams.

What jobs can DT get you?

An entry-level digital logic design role can lead to jobs such as digital design engineer, hardware engineer, or FPGA developer. These positions involve designing and testing digital circuits, often requiring knowledge of hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog. Skills in circuit simulation tools and understanding of digital systems are essential for these roles.

What engineers make $500,000?

Highly experienced engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, petroleum engineering, or aerospace engineering can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. These roles typically require advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes certifications or advanced degrees.

What is the difference between Entry Level Digital Logic Design vs Entry Level Electrical Engineering?

AspectEntry Level Digital Logic DesignEntry Level Electrical Engineering
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fieldBachelor's in Electrical Engineering or similar
Work EnvironmentDesigning digital circuits, FPGA/ASIC development, simulationBroader electrical systems, power, control, and digital circuits
Industry UsageElectronics, semiconductor, hardware design companiesEnergy, manufacturing, electronics, and consulting firms

Entry Level Digital Logic Design focuses specifically on designing digital circuits and systems, often within electronics and hardware companies. Entry Level Electrical Engineering covers a broader range of electrical systems, including power and control, making it more versatile but less specialized in digital logic. Both roles require similar educational backgrounds but differ in daily tasks and industry focus.
