Construction Project Engineer (Entry Level)

Position Overview 

The Construction Project Engineer will support day-to-day field operations on active construction projects. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals seeking to begin a career in construction management and engineering. The Project Engineer works closely with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and trade partners to ensure that project activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals. 


Key Responsibilities 

Project Documentation & Tracking 

  • Maintain and update field logs, daily reports, and project documentation. 
  • Assist with tracking RFIs, submittals, and change orders. 
  • Organize and archive project documents, including drawings, specifications, and meeting decks.

Field Support & Coordination 

  • Support superintendents in coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries. 
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards. 
  • Conduct site walks to verify the quality of work, document progress, and identify potential issues. 

Technical Support 

  • Assist with layout, surveying, and quantity take-offs. 
  • Review shop drawings and specifications to support field activities. 
  • Help troubleshoot field issues by collaborating with the design and project teams. 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Promote and enforce company and OSHA safety standards. 
  • Report and document potential safety hazards. 
  • Participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance on-site. 

Team Collaboration 

  • Provide support for project meetings, including preparing materials and documenting outcomes. 
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders. 
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through professionalism, accountability, and initiative. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience). 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus. 
  • Eagerness to learn, adaptable, and proactive in problem-solving. 

Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000–$85,000 annually, representing the company’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final offer will be based on factors such as experience, skills, responsibilities, and current market conditions.
