Job Title: Drafter / Entry-Level Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Lead Engineer

Position Summary

The CAD Drafter / Entry-Level Engineer supports the engineering function by executing CAD design, drawing creation, revision control, and vendor package preparation. This role enables the Lead Engineer to focus on high-level design, problem-solving, and engineering strategy by ensuring accurate, timely, and well-organized technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Task Execution

  • Review assigned engineering tasks, markups, and design intent provided by the Lead Engineer
  • Identify and clarify missing or unclear requirements before beginning work
  • Execute tasks in alignment with project priorities and deadlines

CAD & Engineering Documentation

  • Create and revise 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings
  • Update assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Maintain alignment between 3D models, drawings, and BOM structures
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) across models, assemblies, and drawings
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to established engineering and drafting standards
  • Maintain revision accuracy and proper version control


Vendor Package Preparation

  • Compile complete and accurate vendor/manufacturing drawing packages
  • Verify correct revisions, file references, and specifications
  • Organize and prepare deliverables for manufacturing and external vendors
  • Support the Lead Engineer in final release readiness

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Improve drawing clarity to support production efficiency
  • Assist in developing assembly documentation and visual aids
  • Support troubleshooting by updating documentation based on shop feedback

PDM & Engineering Standards Compliance

  • Follow established Product Data Management (PDM) workflows
  • Maintain organized file structures and documentation consistency
  • Reinforce engineering documentation standards and best practices

Cross-Functional & Engineering Support

  • Support engineering changes and updates across departments
  • Assist with production, quality, and supply chain documentation needs
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of engineering deliverables

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation workflows and efficiency
  • Contribute to SOP development and process improvements
  • Support initiatives that reduce engineering bottlenecks and improve throughput


Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience:

  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience in CAD drafting or engineering support

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)
  • Understanding of BOM structures and engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with PDM systems preferred
