Job description

Position Summary / Purpose

Restoration 1 is seeking a Technician to assist in fulfilling the company’s obligations through the timely and effective delivery of restoration services. The Restoration Technician provides excellent customer service to residential and commercial property owners who are effected by water, fire or mold damage. Entry-level position. No prior experience required. We are willing to provide all necessary training and certifications for the right person.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively perform all restoration services the company offers - these include water, fire, and mold mitigation services.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and schedule visits to perform services;
  • Install and monitor drying and remediation equipment;
  • Maintain timely and effective communication and flow of information with Lead Technicians, Supervisors or Managers.
  • Demolition and removal of unsalvageable building materials;
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly working
  • Perform equipment and vehicle maintenance;
  • Inspect completed work and keep daily log of activity;
  • Complete appropriate restoration documentation and explain documentation to customers;
  • Maintain appearance and stock of appropriate tools, materials and supplies for company vehicles;
  • Maintain inventory of related supplies.

  • Oral Communication – Speaks clearly. Shows respect when addressing customers and superiors. Able to effectively respond to excited customers. Adaptable and able to think on his/her feet.
  • Written Communication – Writes clear and accurate job notes. The individual is able to read and interpret written information. Uses appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
  • Planning & Organizing – Plans and organizes work activities considering the nature of the job at hand. Focuses on key priorities. Pays attention to details.
  • Technical – Is appropriately trained and/or certified and effectively performs all production work within the restoration division.
  • Quality – the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors their own work to ensure quality.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Education and Experience -High school (or GED) diploma. Previous experience in trade/construction/technical fields a plus.
  • Mathematical skills- Adequate math skills. Ability to apply learned techniques to determine appropriate equipment type and number of units.
  • Computer skills -Demonstrates basic proficiency in the use of computers, email and portable devices/tablets used to report and record daily activity.
  • Certificates, Licenses and Registration -Valid and Clean Driver's License. Technicians are required to obtain IICRC certifications within one year of employment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance,
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawls spaces, attics),
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time,
  • Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects,
  • Ability to work with/around cleaning products/chemicals,
  • Ability to travel locally in a vehicle when necessary.

Working Conditions

The work of this position is predominantly carried out on the customer’s property. Employee will encounter facilities where standing water and sewage are present, heat is unavailable due to lack of utilities, fire damage has occurred and mold or other organic growth exists. Daily exposure to the shop where vehicles and equipment are housed and maintained is typical.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
