NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT-SUMMER LIFEGUARDS: Due to the nationwide lifeguard shortage, residency is NOT a requirement for the seasonal lifeguard position in the City of Buffalo. Applicants from any nearby municipality are encouraged to apply. Distinguishing Features of the Class An incumbent to a position in this class assists in the preparation, input and verification of data generated from electronic data processing and maintaining the accuracy of all data (input/output) generated from the computers. Work is performed in accordance with procedures and policies, however, the incumbent makes decisions on ordinary questions of procedures and order of tasks

Immediate supervision is received from the administrator or a designee of the department or division. No supervision is exercised over personnel. Examples of work (Illustration Only) Assists in checking and verifying data prepared for computer processing; -reviews printouts to verify accuracy of data; -may be required to maintain audit reports of printouts; Prepares timesheets, purchase orders and requisitions; Performs routine clerical work; May be required to operate data processing and word processing equipment, i.e., data entry terminal, printers, personal computers; -may perform routine data entry and retrieval; Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications Promotional Continuous and permanent status in any city department as a Clerk, Jr. Traffic Clerk or Typist for, one year. Open Competitive A) Associates Degree from an accredited college, university, technical or business institute in Data Processing or a related field in the computer or data processing area; OR, (B) Associate's Degree from an accredited college, university, technical or business institute (any major) and either 6 credit hours in data processing OR 6 months of full time data processing experience where work involves the input/output of data; OR, (C) Graduation from High School, GED or Equivalency Diploma and one year of full time clerical experience; 6 months of which must have been full time data processing experience where work involves the input/output of data; OR, (D) An equivalent combination as defined within the limits of A through C.
