Job Description
At Lumibuild as an AV Technician II, you will be responsible for the overall quality of projects delivered to clients. This includes guiding installers, physically installing AV equipment, and properly configuring AV systems. On many projects you will function as the lead technician onsite. You will work closely with Engineering and Technical Project managers to maintain standards, stay on schedule, and mentor lower level technicians. You will also be accountable for commissioning AV systems and documenting the process. The goal for each project is to ensure that clients receive awesome, complete, and functional AV spaces.
As a Tech II, you will also be able to diagnose and troubleshoot pre-existing systems for all types of post-integration support.
Job Requirements
This position is not entry-level and requires previous experience, training, and abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum 2 years experience in commercial AV field
  • Intermediate knowledge of audio and video components, signal types, cables
  • Proficiency in soldering, crimping and compression terminations
  • Understanding of wire pull techniques and the concept of conduit fill capacity
  • Able to build structure for mounting of AV equipment on-site with supervision
  • Use coax and category cable testing and toning
  • Demonstrated familiarity with major manufacturers and major product lines.
  • Basic understanding of networking: IP addressing, MAC address, network hardware such as routers and switches
  • Able to read system drawings
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of control systems and commonly controlled devices.
  • Ability to connect to and load profiles / programs to major AV devices - i.e. Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure, QSC
  • Experience with Dante networked audio - Dante controller
  • Understands the concept of audio signal levels with ability to critically listen to DSP audio and tune system for VTC needs
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with commissioning newly installed systems and completing comprehensive checklists / reports
  • Demonstrated consistency, efficiency, and accuracy in all termination methods
  • Understands concept of projector throw distance and the relationship between it and the projected image size
  • Adjusts projectors after physical installation so as to ensure proper screen fill and focus
  • Understands the difference between series and parallel circuits
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and consistently lead a job site. When leading a site, plan the day so as to maximize use of resources and avoid idle time

Have mid-level rack fabrication skills:
  1. The ability to determine best mounting methods for rack devices and makes recommendations for improvements
  2. Understanding of rack cooling
  3. Understanding of the implications of equipment placement in a rack as it relates to cooling and equipment performance (for example wireless equipment
  4. Understanding of signal segregation

Demonstrated experience with on-site safety procedures:
  • Follow company safety and security policies; reports accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions as required:
  • Maintain work area clean and free of clutter
  • Understand the concept of the grading system for fasteners, for example: SAE-2, SAE-5, and SAE-8 or ISO 8.8
  • Understand concept of a fire wall, and the impact of a fire walls to installation tasks
  • Properly maintains, uses and has available at all times, the required personal protection equipment (PPE)

  • Egress and emergency action plans
  • Scaffolding safety
