SUMMARY:
East Texas A&M University-Commerce Livestock/Equine Farm is looking for a student worker/work study who is interested in gaining practical experience and responsibilities in the Livestock/Equine Farm industry, while providing support to the day-to-day operational needs of East Texas A&M University-Commerce Farm.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in feeding, care, sickness, diagnosis, and treatment of animals including weekends and after-hours. Also includes night checks certain times of the year.
  • Facility/equipment maintenance including various clean-up duties at the Animal Science, Livestock, and Equine Centers.
  • Vehicle/Equipment maintenance (i.e. fueling, cleaning) trucks, tractors, and equipment must have loose hay strings and grain bags removed after every use, ensure all flued levels are full before every use. Grease it!
  • Maintains accurate inventory of hay, grain, and consumables. Records hay and grain use.
  • Assists with care of facilities including, but not limited to, mowing, trimming, power washing, raking, sweeping, and facility cleaning.
  • Ability to operate and maintain tractors/equipment during feeding, hay production, fertilize, herbicide, wheat sowing seasons.
  • Any other tasks as directed by Animal Science Faculty, Livestock/Equine Farm Supervisors, Foreman, or the Farm Manager.
