Job Description

Senior Credit Risk Management role responsible for leading a team of Credit Approval Officers supporting Business Banking lending in the Midwest and East regions. Portfolio composition includes C&I, Investment Real Estate and Agriculture.

The team is responsible for approving loans exceeding business line authority levels and overseeing the management of the Business Banking portfolio. Responsible for maintaining prudent lending standards within U.S. Bank's risk appetite and ensuring conformity with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, while supporting business growth, initiatives and the development/retention of client relationships.

The individual serves as a subject matter expert for credit policy/procedures, credit underwriting and analysis. The team oversees the credit culture for the business line, monitors delinquency, loss and risk rating accuracy for business banking. The individual will lead the team in working with partners in sales, product, underwriting, portfolio management, auditors, and regulators.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically more than 15 years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in credit risk management

  • Demonstrated experience in risk analysis, structuring, and portfolio management skills for C&I lending, agricultural production and investment real estate

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills

  • Expert knowledge of credit policies, procedures and underwriting standards/practices

  • Ability to assess and manage industry-specific risks

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business units to support portfolio growth and operational excellence while appropriately managing risk

  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills, as well as the ability to effectively mentor approvers and manage a diverse nationwide team

  • Considerable understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact business banking/commercial lending

  • Considerable knowledge of the business line's operations, products, services, systems, and associated risks/controls

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $193,035.00 - $227,100.00
