JOB SUMMARY


As a community-focused financial institution, we believe strong credit decisions are built through collaboration. This hybrid Credit Analyst role is part of our Minerva, Ohio based team and includes both remote work and consistent in-office engagement. The position supports credit underwriting and portfolio management while working closely with local lenders and leadership to serve our markets responsibly.


The Credit Analyst, reporting to the Credit Department Manager, is responsible for performing financial and credit analysis of commercial loan requests and existing loan relationships. This role supports sound credit decision-making by evaluating borrower financial strength, repayment capacity, collateral adequacy, and overall credit risk in accordance with bank policy and regulatory requirements. The Credit Analyst works closely with lenders, Credit Administration, Loan Review, and senior management to recommend appropriate loan structures that balance customer needs with prudent risk management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze proposed and existing commercial loan relationships, including complex borrowing structures, as assigned by senior management
  • Review and evaluate financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analysis, and global debt service to assess borrower creditworthiness and repayment ability
  • Determine whether sufficient and accurate financial information has been provided to support informed credit decisions
  • Assess the borrowerโ€™s ability to repay all commercial and personal obligations, including contingent liabilities
  • Evaluate proposed and existing collateral to determine adequacy of security and overall risk mitigation
  • Prepare clear, well-documented credit analyses and written recommendations for loan approvals and renewals
  • Recommend appropriate loan structure, terms, covenants, and conditions based on financial and collateral analysis
  • Ensure credit recommendations comply with bank credit policy, regulatory guidelines, and internal risk standards, or clearly identify exceptions for approval
  • Assign and recommend appropriate credit risk ratings in collaboration with Originating Lenders and Loan Review
  • Communicate effectively with Originating Lenders, Loan Review, and the Chief Credit Officer regarding credit concerns, risk factors, and policy exceptions
  • Support ongoing portfolio management and credit quality monitoring by identifying trends, risks, and emerging issues within assigned credits



Requirements:

ยท Business related degree or equivalent/significant loan and/or audit experience preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or credit risk within the banking industry

ยท SBA or Ag experience a plus

ยท Demonstrated experience with business and technical analysis

ยท Intermediate knowledge of Sageworks (or similar software) and Microsoft Office Suite including, Outlook, Word and Excel

ยท Able to exercise appropriate independent judgment and act on it.

ยท Proven analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

ยท Effective written and verbal communication skill.

ยท Able to work logically and efficiently, with strong attention to detail

ยท Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure

ยท Established customer service skills

ยท Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
