Title: Chemist
Department: R&D - Skincare
Level: Junior Level / Entry Level
Responsibility Summary: The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing batches, measuring physical parameters such as Viscosity, pH, and Density, interacting with vendors, documenting, collaborating with supervisor, and entering formulation.
Responsibilities:
The Chemist is responsible for supporting the company's business events through a variety of tasks, including:
  • Maintain a lab note book.
  • Make batches.
  • Create ingredient qualitative and quantitative list.
  • Check next day specification from previous day batch.
  • Follow up with on-going stabilities.
  • Communicate with raw material vendors.
  • Attend in-house vendor presentations.
  • Enter formulation into the company formulator.
  • Review results with supervisor.
  • Analyze lab batch measuring physical parameters: Viscosity, pH, and Density.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care and color cosmetic products, including line extensions and product improvements.
  • Support in color matching and formulation adjustments.
  • Support compliance with color regulations and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper organization of raw materials and samples.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or Biology that has had chemistry and organic chemistry classes).
  • 0-3 years of experience in R&D, formulation, emulsions, and other forms of color product formulations.
  • Well organized and highly detail oriented.
  • Must work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, production equipment.
  • Strong color matching skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10-15 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits:
The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities.
