Job description

Synchronicity is looking to add a full time/salaried mechanical engineer to our engineering solutions team to meet our clients needs. We specialize in designing custom solutions for building infrastructure systems supporting a wide range of building types with a particular specialty in mission critical facilities. We are looking for entry level and experienced design engineers that will participate and lead the following responsibilities:

  • Create and modify CAD models of building systems
  • Perform infrastructure sizing calculations (HVAC ducts, piping, load calculations) utilizing standard tools (i.e. MS Excel) and specialized software (CFD, HAP, Trace CDS)
  • Perform controls design including creating mechanical system sequences of operations, PID diagrams, and points lists
  • Create mechanical system layouts
  • Perform system selection including specifying and selecting equipment
  • Creating schematic diagrams of engineered systems
  • Creating and editing engineering reports for system analyses, field observations, and/or project scope descriptions.
  • Creating and editing equipment and material specifications
  • Provide commissioning services and support
  • Provide construction administration services (submittals, RFIs, field observations, construction meeting attendance)
  • Participate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate mechanical-electrical system design requirements (architecture, structure, electrical, fire protection, civil/site, etc.)
  • Create and maintain filing/tracking systems for projects
  • Perform design reviews for QA/QC to maintain accurate and coordinated work product
  • Assist with proposal creation for future project pursuits
  • Attend client meetings as a company representative
  • Perform site visits for obtaining existing condition information, interacting in client meetings, resolving field issues, participating in Cx process, and reviewing project construction progress
  • Participate and attend continuing education opportunities for professional development

  • B.S. degree in Engineering degree from accredited educational institution
  • 0-10 yrs experience in mechanical system design or commercial building
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficiency in CAD preferably AutoDesk (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Familiarity with specialized computational design software for loads and HVAC systems (6Sigma, PipeFlo, Trane Trace 700/CDS)
  • Familiarity with design specifications and building codes
  • Ability to perform physical activities in indoor and exposed outdoor environments including standing for extended periods (4-8 hrs), climbing ladders, and lifting objects (up to 25 lbs)
