About the role:
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our construction team as a Junior Estimator. This is an entry-level position with a clear growth path, designed for someone eager to develop a long-term career in construction. Working directly under the guidance of the VP of Construction, the Junior Estimator will be exposed to all facets of pre-construction, estimating, and construction operations within a General Contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in reviewing construction drawings to identify scopes of work for all trades.
  • Support in the creation, distribution, and follow-up of Requests for Quotes to subcontractors.
  • Collect, organize, and track all bids, proposals, and related documents during the bidding and buyout phases.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates of all bid-related and project information in shared systems or spreadsheets.
  • Provide daily progress reports to the VP of Construction.
  • Coordinate and update internal databases, ensuring version control and accessibility across projects.
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractor qualifications and bid compliance.
  • Attend and take notes during internal pre-bid meetings, site visits, and proposal reviews.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure alignment between preconstruction estimates and project execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.

Technical Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related fields)
  • Prior experience or internship in construction or estimating (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, basic formulas, data organization).
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new software platforms (i.e. Procore)
  • Basic understanding of construction plans and documents (preferred)
  • Familiarity with cloud storage tools (i.e. SharePoint) for document organization is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills

The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $70,000.  The actual compensation will be based on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, market and business considerations and other factors permitted by law.
