Job description

ROLE SUMMARY

The Construction Superintendent owns the management of a single site. The superintendent ensures timely and quality completion of work by managing laborers, subcontractors, and third parties. This position reports to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on a project-by-project basis.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the scope of work for a construction site(s) or component of a project
  • Manage the day-to-day activities for everyone on their assigned job site(s)
  • Address issues as they arise on the project, engaging the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager as necessary
  • Oversee laborers and subcontractors to ensure they are doing the right work, performing at a high quality, and working within their scope
  • Review invoices to confirm they are accurate
  • Monitor work against the schedule set forth by the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
  • Make recommendations on vendors, subcontractors, and changes to the project scope and schedule
  • Monitor the accurate reporting of time by the entire construction staff and verify it is recorded correctly for payroll purposes
  • Act as the liaison between staff and the central office for administrative tasks and issues
  • Execute construction work at the site when required
  • Work with municipal inspectors to ensure projects stay on schedule
  • Use Sage, email, and online file storage tools to administer work and communicate with the central office, management, and team members
  • Be the point of contact at the construction site for all staff, subcontractors, inspectors, and third parties
  • Act as a reliable, service-oriented face to the community during projects projecting the customer service ideals of RMS to all vendors and project stakeholders
  • Coordinate warranty repairs for completed and sold properties
  • Identify high-potential laborers and help them to develop skills commensurate with the next level of responsibility on construction projects
  • Provide assistance to other projects at the direction of the Project Managers or Senior Project Managers

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, project lifecycle, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools.
  • Experience in project scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • OSHA or other safety training certifications preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
