Serving clients across Southern Virginia and Northeast North Carolina, we specialize in delivering high-quality construction projects, safe and efficient heavy lifting solutions, and precision steel fabrication. With more than a century of experience, our team is committed to craftsmanship, safety, and building lasting relationships with our clients.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This salaried, full-time position will support the Construction Division.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day operations and administration of construction projects.
  • Assist with the preparation, tracking, review and distribution of project submittals, RFIs, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop an understanding of project scope and requirements.
  • Track outstanding project items and help ensure required information is received and distributed in a timely manner.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with meeting notes, follow-up items, and documentation.
  • Spend time on active jobsites to gain an understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, scheduling, safety, quality, and field operations.
  • Assist with quality takeoffs, pricing, change documentation, and other project management tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, customers, and staff as appropriate.
  • Attend company meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Basic ability to read and understand construction drawings and specficications, or willingness to learn.
  • High analytical and organization skills, great attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working in both an office environment and on active construction sites.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of company information.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to local project sites as needed.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background check and drug screening).
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require the use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting 60 pounds, balancing, walking, climbing, stooping, and handling materials. Must be able to sit and/or be active for long periods of time.
