Job description

General Description:
Ready to start a career instead of just working a job? Tolunay Wong Engineers is hiring entry level Construction Material Testing Technicians for it's Baton Rouge/ Geismar, Louisiana location. You'll learn to test and inspect soils, concrete, asphalt and more on real jobsites. No CMT background is required. We'll get you trained and certified starting on day one. This position is great fit for recent college grads (construction management, civil engineering, geology or similar. lSO, military veterans looking for a hands-on technical career or anyone mechanically inclined who is tired of dead-end work and wants to build real marketable skills.
You'll learn to test soil, concrete and other construction materials in the field and laboratory by shadowing experienced technicians before working independently. You'll learn to write clear, accurate field reports. You'll communicate daily with dispatch and site contacts. Technicians of all levels are expected to be physically capable of performing the duties described including but not limited to the capability to lift 10 to 60 lbs. and transporting materials up to 200 lbs. in a wheelbarrow, cart or dolly. We expect every employee of TWE to perform their assigned duties safely with consideration for the safety of others around them at all times. We need people who can show-up on time, safely operate a company or personal vehicle and represent us well on client sites.
Essential Tasks:
  • Assist with sampling or testing of soils, concrete, asphalt and other materials as directed.
  • Support field and/or laboratory personnel as needed to complete tasks.
  • Transports equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work area.
  • Assists other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks.
  • You will be expected to retain the information shown and explained to you so that you may become a self-sufficient employee and continue to grow with our company.
  • Support our quality policies and procedures; maintain the quality of your work and the quality of TWE in the highest regard with each task you perform.
  • Adhere to the TWE safety policies and procedures and encourage the improvement of these policies by your participation in near miss and safety audit programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • No experience necessary - we provide full company paid training toward ACI, NICET and state DOT certifications.
  • Reliable transportation (truck preferred - ask about our vehicle incentive program)
  • Capacity to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Must be willing to work outside early mornings, irregular hours and weekends as the job demands
  • Must be able to walk and stand on uneven or irregular surfaces for periods of time
  • High diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a drug test, background check and fit for duty test
