Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Electromechanical Design (CCA & Harness)
Location: Orlando, FL
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4/10
Pay: $65.38/hr
Job Description:
USPRO Talent Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer – Electromechanical Design to support the development of advanced aerospace and defense electronic systems. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy solving complex design challenges involving electronic hardware integration, circuit card assemblies, and cable/harness systems.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in the mechanical design and integration of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), electronic packaging, connectors, and cable harnesses while supporting the full product lifecycle from concept development through manufacturing and test. This position requires close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, systems, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure robust, producible, and reliable designs.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical layouts and packaging solutions for complex Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and electronic hardware systems.
  • Create detailed CCA board layouts with emphasis on fit, form, function, clearance, and tolerance compliance.
  • Perform connector selection and integration to support electrical and mechanical system requirements.
  • Design and integrate cable and harness assemblies to support system-level functionality and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain detailed engineering models, drawings, and product documentation using PTC Creo and Windchill.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews to improve product quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues, providing engineering solutions to support production and testing activities.
  • Define, coordinate, and support hardware test plans, qualification activities, and product integration efforts.
  • Manage bill of materials (BOMs), engineering change documentation, and configuration-controlled design data.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, reliability, and quality teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable IPC standards, customer requirements, and aerospace/defense industry practices.
  • Support product development activities through design reviews, technical presentations, and cross-functional project meetings.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) board layout and mechanical design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with connector selection, integration, and manufacturing support.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing PTC Creo and Windchill in a product development environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with IPC standards and aerospace/defense product development lifecycles.
  • Experience supporting hardware integration, design verification, manufacturing, and test activities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical tolerancing, fit-up analysis, and electronic packaging principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to generate and maintain high-quality engineering documentation and technical data packages.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with cable and harness design and integration.
  • Experience utilizing Zuken for cable, harness, or electrical system design.
  • Experience supporting military, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification, reliability testing, and hardware integration activities.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change processes.
