Job description

Summary

Join our vibrant group of design and R&D engineers to help develop the next generation of high-performance electrical interconnects. Work as part of a cross-functional team to design innovative solutions for aerospace, military, and space markets. The ideal applicant is self-driven, creative, hands-on, and not afraid to ask questions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and evaluate design ideas, considering form, function, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop design improvement concepts.
  • Design components to meet industry, customer, and cost requirements.
  • Define engineering materials, production costs, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in cross-functional product development efforts.
  • Support project tracking and provide technical assistance across departments.
  • Work effectively both independently and as a team.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and relevant specifications.
  • Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND
  • 1 year of experience in a related technical field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The level of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
Physical
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires use of technical equipment, measuring devices, and computer systems.
  • Requires finger dexterity, near vision, and ability to interpret visual data.
Working ConditionsWork is performed primarily in an office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials. Travel is required on occasion.CompetenciesKnowledge
  • Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical engineering principles and connector design.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and industry/military specifications.
  • Understanding of production processes, cost estimation, and material selection.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and Microsoft Office products.
  • Growing knowledge of quality systems and root cause analysis methods.
Skills
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD software required, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Clear communication with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Ability to evaluate design-function relationships and manufacturability.
  • Skill in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Time management and task coordination.
Abilities
