Job description

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
METTLER TOLEDO industrial weighing solutions include sensor technologies, scale structures, scale electronics, and associated software for data management. The Masstron Producing Organization (MTMS) designs, develops, and produces products within the METTLER TOLEDO Vehicle and Heavy Capacity product families. The MTMS Welder 1 is responsible for performing basic welding tasks in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols within the steel and concrete lines of the VEH Value Stream. The responsibilities are as follows:
  • Layout, fit, and weld materials using support tools such as production orders, standard work, blueprints, and other documents related to the Engineering/Customer specifications.
  • Accurately enter data into the MRP (e.g. SAP) system and ensure that inventory is accurately stated.
  • Maintain accurate records such as production orders, data collection, and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) sheets.
  • Set up and maintain all welding equipment and tools used in the department.
  • Maintain stock control, pull items for orders, work in other departments, and complete other related duties as required to fulfill customer orders.
  • Perform daily activities safely and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Actively participate in entry-level 5S and Lean initiatives.
  • Safely operate fork trucks and cranes.
  • Maintain quality throughout the weld process.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and increase efficiency.
  • Attend training sessions to develop skills and knowledge in welding practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

This role is for the 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM
What You Need to Succeed
  • High School graduate with excellent math, reading, & writing ability.
  • Current or past AWS certification for D1.1 or D1.5 preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret standard AWS (American Welding Society) symbols.
  • Ability to work effectively with torches, cutters, staplers, hand/pneumatic tools, and hand tools (hammers, torque wrench, crow bars, etc.).
  • Ability to work with fixtures.
  • Ability to safely operate Jib and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to operate welding equipment.
  • Ability to perform quality inspections based on set expectations.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques.
  • Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
  • Ability to inspect own work and the work of others.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on details.
  • Ability to work overtime when required (some on weekends).
  • Ability to work from order schedules.
