Laboratory Technician โ€“ PVT Lab

Summary

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our PVT (Pressure Volume Temperature) Labย working out of our Calgary, Alberta facility. In this positionย the successful candidate will beย the second level position in the laboratory. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Manager and assists with laboratory services.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform PVT standard and advanced experiments including, but not limited to, single stage flash (SSF), gas oil ratio (GOR), constant composition expansion (CCE), differential liberation (DL), and viscosity measurements.
  • Receive, prepare, and maintain reservoir fluid samples (oil, gas, condensate) following chainโ€‘ofโ€‘custody and contaminationโ€‘control procedures.
  • Operate highโ€‘pressure PVT cells, high-temperature PVT ovens, viscometers, pumps, and other PVT equipment.
  • Regularly maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot essential laboratory equipment.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Prepare test summaries, data sheets, and technical reports for internal use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree.
  • 0-5 yearโ€™s laboratory work experience.
  • Previous experience in an oil or PVT lab environment would be considered an asset.
  • Intermediate computer skills with MS office and LIMS.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.
