Position Overview

Spark is currently recruiting for a salaried,permanent Building Operator (5th Class Power Engineer).

The Building Operator reports directly to theSupervisor, Facility Operations. The Building Operator will assist in facilitymaintenance operations including general repairs and preventative maintenancefor the facility, outside grounds maintenance and related projects support.

The building is a LEED Gold certified buildingequipped with:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Dedicated OutdoorAir Systems (DOAS) capable of operating on 100% outdoor air

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Heat recoveryheat wheels and heat pipes

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Chilled water& heated overhead radiant panels

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Dry cooler andmechanical screw chiller

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย High efficiencycondensing boilers

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Rainwater capturefor flushing toilets & urinals

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Over 1.3 MWhsolar generation system

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย New BuildingAutomation System (BAS)

ย 

Shift schedule: Will be Wedto Sun. 8am-4pm (Flexibility in shifts is required to cover for after hoursevents)

KeyResponsibilities

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Operate andmaintain all building systems and equipment, including but not limited to HVAC,plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Perform generalrepairs and preventative maintenance with minimal supervision

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Assist withchecking and maintaining chilled water and boiler water systems

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Minor electrical,plumbing, and painting & wall repairs

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Maintain outsidegrounds, including but not limited to lawn care, trees and shrubs. Also providesnow and ice removal as required

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Assist with minorconstruction projects

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Assist inSupervising contractors and service personnel

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Maintaining thebuilding in "showroom" condition atall times

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Other duties asrequired and assigned.

Qualifications& Knowledge

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Certification in5th Class Power Engineering or in the process of obtaining 5th ClassPower Engineering within the next 12 months

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย A minimum of 3years of experience in building operations

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Strongtroubleshooting and diagnostic skills

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Previousexperience with Building Automation Systems is considered an asset

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Intermediatelevel of Computer skills (Microsoft office, Email, etc.)

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Ability to shiftwork focus due to operational needs

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Strong skillswith hand tools and power tools

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย StrongElectrical, Drywall, Construction, Plumbing and Painting skills
