Job description

IT Support Specialist

Job Summary

Reporting to the ServiceDesk Manager, the IT Support Specialist has primary responsibility for support of the end user desktop computing environment at Emerson Hospital. This includes hardware, local applications, operating systems, and other IT owned devices used by hospital staff.

Job Functions

  • Receives, logs, triages, repairs and routes support calls.
  • Provides end user support and technical issue resolution
  • Troubleshoots/repairs personal computer based system access software and security software.
  • Troubleshoots/repairs terminals, printers, personal computers, and basic network devices.
  • Isolates cable problems at the desktop.
  • Customizes personal computer configurations to enhance performance.
  • Administration of Intranet, ticketing and other Service Desk support systems
  • Setup and configuration of laptops and PCs
  • Perform creation of new accounts 
  • Maintains and supports patient rights to care, privacy, and respect.
  • Assists with project execution
  • Participates in the on call program and carries a pager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Above average communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve or escalate computer problems.
  • Highly motivated and able to take initiative.
  • Ability to interact positively with medical staff under difficult conditions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and PC hardware.

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Health Care, Electrical Engineering, Nursing, Information Systems or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing end user desktop support.
