D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a CAD Design Technician. The right candidate will provide design and drafting support on a variety of engineering projects related to residential and site infrastructure development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Design and drafting of engineering plans to include alignments, profiles, cross sections, utilities, and general plan drawings
  • Produce topographical profiles, cross sections, surface TINs, earthwork calculations, and grading plans with assistance from Senior Designer or Project Manager
  • Perform routine drafting assignments that require judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations
  • Prepare quantity take-offs from conceptual drawings and final construction plans
  • Work under guidance of engineers or senior designers to complete assigned work within budgeted timeframes
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to work overtime

Education and/or Experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • One to two years' experience and/or training
  • Certification in CAD software, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • General CAD and Civil 3D experience required with at least 2 years' experience in land development engineering
  • Previous experience with utility, subdivision, and earthwork grading design and drafting
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications
  • GIS experience is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and expand responsibilities
