Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will support and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and production operations at Hörmann. This role will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and cost.

This is an on-site position based in Puyallup, Washington. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and passionate about Lean Manufacturing and continuous process improvement.

Major Responsibilities / Activities:

  • Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Work closely with Production and other departments to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction, process optimization, and workflow improvements.
  • Analyze production data, cycle times, capacity, and process performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, routings, and manufacturing standards.
  • Support new product introductions and the implementation of new or modified processes.
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and processes and recommend improvements.
  • Support production trials, equipment installations, and process validations.
  • Identify root causes of production problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and other manufacturing changes as needed.
  • Work hands-on in the production environment and provide technical support to manufacturing teams.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and other engineering assignments as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Frontier preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Physical Functions:

Frequent trips into production areas are required. The employee must be able to safely maneuver through manufacturing areas and may occasionally be required to stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift materials as needed.

Travel Requirements:

The travel for this position is expected to be less 20%.

Equipment / Software Used:

The candidate may use a variety of manufacturing equipment, precision measuring devices, and computer-based software including SAP, Frontier, Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, and other engineering or manufacturing software as required.
