Job description

Work schedule: On-site / Full-time Evenings, 2 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Serves as a lead worker in performing advanced and routine paint jobs and installs/repairs other commonly used wall finishes such as ceramic tile and wall coverings from surface preparation to finish, while adhering to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that work is performed efficiently and according to department standards.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education

  • None.


Experience

  • Must have five years of industrial painting experience and working with other common wall finishes such as ceramic tile and wall coverings.


Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements.


Certification/Registration/Licensure

  • Must have a valid Texas Driver License (Class C).


Skills or Special Abilities

  • Must be insurable and have access to an automobile.

  • Must be able to organize and schedule paint jobs to ensure timely completion of work.

  • Must be able to do material take-off from blueprints or on-site survey.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of supplies and equipment associated with painting and other wall finishes

  • Must be able to train Painter I's and other team members.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with departmental staff.

  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced and routine paint jobs from surface preparation to finish in areas throughout the Parkland campus including but not limited to rooms, corridors, streets, parking lots, posts, ceilings, woodwork, and furniture to ensure that Parkland facilities are painted and maintained. May perform a variety of duties such as prepare surfaces, strip, cut or attach wall coverings and install ceramic tile.

  • Schedules and organizes assigned staff and materials to ensure that work is performed efficiently and according to department standards. Maintains field work orders, service calls, logs and be able to input and retrieve work orders from CMMS system as directed by supervisor.

  • Adheres to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that work is carried out in an effective and safe manner.

  • Maintains a positive working relationship with Parkland staff, patients, contractors, and vendors to ensure that work is performed efficiently and to the customer's satisfaction.

  • Responds to work requests from Parkland staff by picking up/delivering furniture and performing requested tasks according to established policies and procedures to provide Parkland facilities with prompt and efficient service.

  • Trains and assists new and entry level painters and other Engineering team members as needed to ensure that staff members are capable of performing assigned job functions.

  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies by replenishing internal stock levels to ensure that supplies are available and ready for use by paint team.

  • Documents work performed and maintains records according to established policies and procedures to ensure that accurate documentation is maintained and made available for reference.

  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of the Parkland.

  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the field of industrial painting by attending seminars or workshops and reading publications, and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the job.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Painter area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
