Data Center Commissioning Engineer

Montgomery, AL | On-site | Contract-to-hire | $45–55/hr

Seeking controls and automation contractor responsible for commissioning electrical and mechanical systems on a large-scale, multiyear data center program in Montgomery, AL. We are hiring entry-level Commissioning Engineers to support a small field team with a defined advancement path into a Project Engineer role.

What you’ll do

  • Commission and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical control systems, including HVAC equipment, chillers, fan arrays, and power distribution systems
  • Perform I/O troubleshooting on hardwired points and network communications, including Modbus registerlevel diagnostics
  • Interpret oneline diagrams, network architecture drawings, and control schematics
  • Assist with graphics integration on Ignition and AVEVA System Platform
  • Download, verify, and make basic PLC program edits under the direction of a lead engineer (Schneider Electric, function block diagram)
  • Document issues clearly, escalate appropriately, and work under a lead within a small field team

What we’re looking for

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology preferred; technicians with strong handson controls experience will also be considered
  • Comfortable using a multimeter
  • Exposure to any major PLC platform (Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Modbus or BACnet is a plus
  • Able to perform field work 8+ hours per day on an active construction site; standard 45hour workweeks, Monday through Friday
  • Coachable, motivated, and eager to learn—we will train the right candidate

Schedule & Logistics

On-site Monday through Friday, 45hour standard workweeks. Weekends and holidays are paid at 1.5x. Travel rotation options are available (10 on / 4 off, or 2week deployments with 6 days home).
