Job Description

Entry-level professional responsible for evaluating non-standard commercial auto submissions, verifying information, assessing risk factors, and making informed coverage decisions in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Support disciplined growth and protect portfolio performance through appetite enforcement and loss-ratio stewardship.

Full-time, Non-Exempt, Atlanta, GA (Commercial Auto).
Work arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in office/3 work from home)

About the ROLE
  • Document new applications through assigned daily work, while maintaining department standards for service, and high-quality throughput.
  • Review new applications and attachments for completeness to determine acceptability and next steps (approve, endorse, or void) within Carrier guidelines. Document voids, rejections, and cancellations to preserve history for audit and reporting
  • Underwrite new business and renewals using multiple sources to validate data and eligibility.
  • Monitor the suspense queue; follow up on subjectivities; process when compliant or initiate cancellation if unmet within the underwriting 60-day cancellation window.
  • Send memos for subjectivities that clearly communicate Underwriting requirements and compliance timelines.
  • Participate in round-robin phone and chat queues to support bilingual agents and insureds with accurate, guideline-consistent answers.
  • Respond to internal communications and align with posted resources to stay current on product/process updates.
  • Ensure internal compliance with regulatory/statutory requirements; process policy changes within underwriting guidelines; participate in department meetings; meet productivity/quality SLAs with strong team focus.
  • Protect the loss ratio by consistently enforcing appetite, validating rating elements, and escalating ambiguous risks.

Required
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in commercial auto (non-standard) underwriting or closely related P&C roles; knowledge of underwriting principles and statutory requirements.
  • Admitted policy experience a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency with office productivity tools; ability to prioritize and meet service commitments.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises.
