POSITIONS PURPOSE:

The Relationship Banker is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting clients with a full range of banking transactions, account services, and financial solutions. This role supports customer relationship development through proactive engagement, cross-selling, and referral activities. The position also contributes to branch operations, risk management, and overall banking center performance, with increasing responsibility and complexity at higher levels.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

1. Customer Service & Transaction Processing

  • Process routine to complex transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, money orders, and cash advances
  • Provide accurate information and troubleshoot customer issues across accounts, debit cards, and digital banking platforms
  • Assist with account servicing activities such as address changes, travel notifications, safe deposit access, and account closures (including advanced products at higher levels)
  • Support loan-related activities including application intake, rate/term discussions, and closing processes (advanced levels)
  • Ensure a high level of courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism in all interactions

2. Sales & Relationship Development

  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services
  • Actively cross-sell and refer customers to internal specialists
  • Contribute to branch growth goals through relationship building and proactive outreach
  • Educate customers on bank capabilities, products, and digital channels

3. Account Management & Acquisition

  • Open and maintain personal and (at higher levels) business accounts
  • Process account changes and perform ongoing account maintenance
  • Conduct follow-ups to deepen customer relationships
  • Support loan and commercial referral processes

4. Branch Operations

  • Assist with daily branch operations including opening/closing procedures
  • Perform cash handling, vault balancing, and ATM maintenance
  • Support coworkers with cash needs and operational tasks
  • Participate in team meetings, huddles, and branch initiatives
  • Provide leadership support and act as a resource when management is unavailable (advanced levels)

5. Risk, Compliance & Problem Resolution

  • Maintain adherence to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Support a strong risk management culture through sound judgment and decision-making
  • Identify and escalate suspicious activity or complex issues appropriately
  • Resolve customer concerns efficiently and professionally

6. Teamwork & Culture

QUALIFICATIONS


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience

  • Entry Level (RB I): 0-2 years in banking, retail, or customer service
  • Intermediate (RB II): Some banking or sales experience preferred
  • Advanced (RB III): 1-2+ years financial services experience with demonstrated proficiency
