About the RoleThe Machinist II will be primarily responsible for operating manual lathe and mill machines to produce high-precision aerospace components. This role involves performing advanced equipment setup and maintenance, using precision measurement tools, fabricating fixtures, and adhering to shop safety and best practices. The Machinist II will also play a key role in process improvement and troubleshooting machining issues.
In this role, you will operate manual machines to produce high-precision aerospace components while performing advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities. You will deburr and clean machined parts, use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances, and adhere to established best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements. Additionally, you will follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols, collaborate with team members to improve processes and achieve production goals. You will maintain accurate records of machining operations and part inspections, troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically2+ years of related experience.

  • Basicproficiencywith manual mill and manual lathe machines.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Basic understanding of general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency.

  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for flight and non-flight assemblies.

  • Demonstrated ability implementing 5S, FOD and ESD awareness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification: Machinist certification or related certification.

  • Previousexperience in a manufacturing or machining environment.

  • Familiar with CNC programming such as G and M-code.

  • Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software for designing and programming CNC operations.

  • Knowledge of material properties and machining characteristics of aerospace-grade alloys.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communicationskills and a willingness to learn and adapt.

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality control methodologies.

  • Knowledge ofleanmanufacturing principles and practices.

  • Ability to perform minor machine repairs and adjustments.

  • Familiarity with shop floor data collection systems and software.

$22.82 - $31.37
