Our client is a clinical research organization working with translational testing seeking an Animal Care Technician to provide operational support for laboratory animals within a regulated research facility. This role is responsible for maintaining vivarium sanitation in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring accurate medical record documentation, and supporting in vivo research activities.
Located in Atlanta, GA
Contract to hire
Shift: 1st shift 730am -4pm either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily care for laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, monitoring health status, and cage cleaning.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation meets SOP and regulatory requirements.
  • Sanitize animal rooms, cages, and related equipment to maintain a healthy and compliant environment.
  • Operate sanitizing equipment, environmental housing systems, and research-related equipment.
  • Interpret medical orders, calculate pharmacologic dosages, and administer medications as directed.
  • Perform post-operative exams, evaluations, and collect relevant research data.
  • Assist with the transport, intake, and receipt of animals.
  • Review medical records and research data to ensure accurate documentation and data collection.
  • Train and mentor entry-level Animal Care Technicians.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of laboratory animal or veterinary experience, OR
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with 1+ year of laboratory animal or veterinary experience.
  • Ability to interpret written and verbal medical orders.
  • Experience calculating pharmacologic doses and administering medications.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical drug classifications.
  • Ability to perform physical examinations across multiple animal species.
  • Strong attention to detail for documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50+ pounds.
