Introduction

\r\nThe Maryland Department of\r\nLabor Veterans Program is looking for an energetic Disabled Veterans Outreach\r\nProgram / Local Veterans Employment Representative veteran who's committed to\r\nassisting veterans and veteran spouses with qualifying employment barriers\r\n(QEB) visiting the American Job Center. The ideal candidate will have\r\nexperience in case managing veterans and veteran spouses with their employment\r\nand training goals and objectives. Additionally, the candidate will have some\r\nexperience advocating veteran and veteran spouse employment with businesses in\r\nthe community. The ideal candidate should\r\nhave the ability to work independently and as part of a team to locate and\r\nprovide assistance and resources to veterans and eligible veteran spouses with\r\nqualifying employment barriers.\r\nPlease be advised that travel may be required and a State vehicle may not always be available. Reimbursement for use of personal vehicle will apply according to the State travel policy.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

To work with eligible veterans, and other eligible persons who have significant barriers to employment (SBE) to resolve their employment needs. Conduct outreach and provide business services to employers\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

\r\n\r\n\r\nProvides intensive services\r\nto eligible veterans, and eligible spouses as defined in title 38 united states code (USC), paragraph 4103a(a). The\r\ngoal is to assist eligible veterans and spouses\r\nto obtain or retain employment leading to self-sufficiency. In addition,\r\neligible veterans and eligible\r\nspouses must meet the definition of an individual with a qualifying employment\r\nbarrier (QEB), or are members of a\r\nveteran population identified by the secretary under title 38 U.S.C.\r\n4103a(a)(1)(c) As eligible for DVOP services, as explained in separate guidance\r\nfrom DOL\r\nProvides services to job seekers by assessing their skills, and\r\nneeds using the automated system to complete, review, and update customer registration.\r\nIdentifying potential job\r\nmatches of job seeker skills with job qualifications.Refer qualified job seekers\r\nto job openings by utilizing the automated system.Sharing labor market information with customers to enable\r\ninformed decisions on labor trends and economic conditions.\r\nRepresent the Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning\r\nby planning and coordinating with unions, apprenticeship programs and\r\nbusinesses to promote and secure employment and training programs.\r\nEngage with state and local business services entities by\r\nattending meetings with agency representatives and employers to provide any\r\nstaffing and information services necessary to assist new and existing\r\nbusinesses, and to promote veteran employment.\r\nConducting employer outreach\r\nthrough telephone calls, emails, and site visits.\r\nDisseminating labor market\r\ninformation to businesses to enable informed decisions on labor trends and\r\neconomic conditions by using appropriate resource materials and automated\r\nsystems\r\nPromoting agency services,\r\njob fairs, compliance with Federal Contractor Job Listings (FCJL), federal and\r\nstate veterans' incentive training programs, and positive recruitment efforts\r\nto develop entry level employment opportunities for eligible veterans and other\r\neligible persons.\r\nPromoting credentialing, and\r\nlicensing opportunities for veterans\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience:None.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute experience in the field of workforce development, customer service, human resources, recruiting or similar field may be substituted on a year-for- year basis for therequired education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer with active-duty military recruiting experience or career counseling experience on a year-by-year basis for the required education.\r\n
