Overview of Position:
The Business Intelligence Developer I is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to build their expertise in healthcare data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence tools. This position focuses on developing reports, dashboards, and data extracts using Epic, Workday, and Power BI, supporting operational and strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and senior BI developers to gather requirements, validate data, and implement BI solutions while ensuring data integrity and compliance. This role is ideal for those with a strong analytical mindset, a passion for data storytelling, and a drive to continuously learn and improve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Technical Skills
• Develop basic to moderately complex reports and dashboards using Epic or Workday BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Epic Reporting Workbench, Workday Analytics).
• Assist in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes by creating extracts based on well-defined vendor specifications.
• Execute fundamental source control concepts, including branching, merging, and version management, using Azure DevOps or GitHub for code collaboration and deployment.
• Assist in data validation and data cleansing to prepare data for analysis.
Project and Process Management
• Practices Agile principles, iterative development, and participation in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and collaborates with team members.
• Works from a prioritized backlog, refines tasks, and estimates effort using Agile frameworks.
• Completes assigned tasks within sprint cycles while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Remains open to feedback, retrospective insights, and process enhancements to improve efficiency and deliverables and executes on action plans developed because of feedback.
• Pivots priorities as business needs evolve while maintaining focus on delivering value-driven insights.
Collaboration and Communications
• Creates documentation and user guides for reports and processes.
• Participates in peer review to seek approval before promoting BI solutions to a production environment or workspace.
• Engages with stakeholders and team members to fully understand requirements, challenges, and feedback.
• Presents complex data insights in an understandable way, whether through reports, dashboards, or discussions.
• Addresses differences in opinion professionally and works toward data-driven, consensus-based solutions.

• Supports the work of more senior team members in troubleshooting data issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
2. Prior experience in data analytics roles, internship, or project work using Power BI, Workday, and/or Epic is preferred but not required.
3. Ability to collaborate in a full remote or hybrid work environment.
4. Self-motivated and passionate about making data tell a story.
5. Ability to learn technical concepts quickly.
6. Ability to troubleshoot problems independently or in a team environment.
7. Exposure to SQL, DAX, or Python and BI methodologies.
8. Understanding DevOps with Subversion, Git, or similar version control.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10. Aptitude for validating data quickly and efficiently.
11. Understanding Entity Relationship Diagrams.
12. Ability to communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
13. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
14. Excitement and motivation to do things better, faster, and more efficient.
15. An understanding of Agile practices like SCRUM or Kanban and a willingness to adopt this methodology.
16. Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard creation, data transformation, and DAX functions.
17. Basic understanding of Epic reporting tools and data structures (experience with Clarity or Caboodle is a plus).
