Job description

Our client, a leading general contracting company, is seeking motivated accounting professionals to join its growing finance team. They are hiring at the Staff Accountant I and Staff Accountant II levels, depending on experience, skills, and career progression.

 

Location: Onsite - West Chester, OH
Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

 

Position Overview

As a Staff Accountant, you will support key accounting functions, assist with monthly financial reporting processes, and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records. Responsibilities and level of ownership will be determined based on experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Perform bank reconciliations, account analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support month-end close activities and prepare assigned workpapers
  • Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Assist with budget-to-actual variance analysis and research account fluctuations
  • Support intercompany transactions and multi-entity accounting activities
  • Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and internal controls
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to external auditor requests
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of assigned accounting processes

 

Qualifications

 

Staff Accountant I

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Entry-level to 2 years of accounting experience in corporate or construction accounting
  • Solid attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Desire to learn and grow within an accounting career

Staff Accountant II

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in corporate or construction accounting
  • Solid analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounting responsibilities

 

Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)

  • Experience working for a publicly traded company or an organization subject to SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience with BlackLine (particularly for Accountant II candidates)
  • Exposure to multiple general ledger areas
  • Interest in technical accounting research and process improvement
  • CPA pursuit or long-term interest in professional growth within accounting
