The Role

The Material Handler I is an entry-level position focused on performing basic inventory functions under close supervision. This position is designed to build fundamental skills in kitting, receiving, bill of materials (BOM) fulfillment, manufacturing support, and inventory accountability. Material Handler I learns to follow established SOPs and accountability processes while supporting the company's material readiness needs. throughput.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic accountability tasks such as quantity verification, kitting from a BOM, packaging, and material storage.
  • Follow SOPs and work instructions precisely to account for and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inventory and receiving/shipping area to ensure inventory accuracy and efficiency of work.
  • Accurately deliver materials to requesting personnel to fulfill operational requirements
  • Report any inventory inaccuracies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance while demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year + of experience in material handling, inventory control, logistics, or related fields preferred.
  • Basic math skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to use web-based and mobile applications for inventory and material tracking

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Previous experience in material handling.
  • Active forklift certification.
  • Experience using inventory management, ERP, or warehouse management systems.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with safety sensitive materials and equipment.
  • Compliance with all security, confidentiality, and safety regulations applicable to defense and government contracts.
