Job description

Overview

SCCI is currently seeking a Junior Systems Engineer (SE) to join our team! This is an entry-level position that will support the Battle Management System (BMS) modern portfolio of DoD projects. In this role you will interface with multiple engineering technical teams (i.e. Software Engineering, Test, Configuration Management, Training, and Safety) and technical personnel from various external organizations to refine program intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions. This is a unique opportunity to learn and engage in the full spectrum of technical collaboration events required for the successful development, modernization, and maintenance of a DoD system critical to our warfighters for outmatching the threats we face around the world. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities: The rapid development framework of the BMS program relies on the achievement and execution of critical milestone events. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Applying robust systems engineering processes, working closely with the operators and end-users to develop and understand requirements and to actively participate in building the systems associated with a tactical fire control system
  • Participating in Design Reviews, the Systems Engineering Working Groups and weekly Integrated Products Teams (IPTs) and Working Groups (WGs), and supporting Product Review Panels (PRPs) and Product Certification Panels (PCPs)
  • Developing requirements for weapon systems integrated with air, land and sea platforms
  • Executing systems engineering best practices for requirements definition & decomposition, design and implementation of customer & end-user requirements
  • Assessing operational performance criteria and provide input for improving performance
  • Developing and communicate system plans, progress and performance results both orally and in writing
  • Developing Model Based Systems Engineering models for assigned project and contribute to the BMS MBSE Community of Practice
  • Developing solutions for SW centric projects including concepts and requirements for Graphical User Interfaces

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Understanding of systems engineering and a desire to work across engineering disciplines for the design and development of a system
  • Capability to understand and convey complex technical concepts in a logical and straightforward manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing range/field environment
  • Discipline and drive to work independently and interface professionally with other government agencies, contractors, military personnel
  • Collaboration skills to work with others to meet established goals and program schedules
  • Effective communication skills to convey concepts and insights both verbally and in writing

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and applications (including Cameo Systems Modeler)
