Substitute Teacher

      General Duties:  The instructional staff's chief responsibility is delivering educational excellence to students in each grade and subject level consistent with the mission, vision and core values of the school.    

Primary Job Focus:

   

1.  Maintain a godly spirit-led life and approach to work  

 

2.  Develop students personally and academically

 

3.  Focus instruction on a biblical worldview

 

4.  Actively support the mission, vision, and core values of the school

   

Job requirements currently supporting the primary job focus:

   

1.  Maintain a godly spirit-led life and approach to work  

 

Spend time regularly with God in prayer and His Word

 

Attend staff devotions

   

2.  Develop students personally and academically

 

Attend chapel

 

Seek professional development opportunities to better serve students

 

Build into the lives of students

 

Provide accountability for students when necessary

 

Challenge students to achieve to their potential through differentiated instruction.

 

Ensure that students are aware of the Indiana State Standards and how they apply to the established curriculum of the school

 

Maintain a classroom management plan that promotes student success

   

3.  Focus instruction on a biblical worldview

 

Build all instruction upon Biblical principles 

 

Maintain required assessment and record keeping for students

 

Teach students to understand and respectfully present their faith

 

Use differentiated instruction to help each student learn in the way in which God designed him or her.

 

Utilize educational opportunities for professional growth

   

4.  Actively support the mission, vision, and core values of the school

 

Support the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible

 

Maintain a plan addressing curriculum review and classroom improvements

 

Communicate effectively with school administrators

 

Counsel and disciple parents to address students' needs

 

Handle parent communication promptly and professionally

 

Collaborate with colleagues to reinforce educational objectives

 

Perform additional duties occasionally assigned by administration

 

Prepare adequate information and materials for substitute teachers

      Qualifications, Experience and Skills   

Experience as an educator preferred

 

Bachelors degree in education or a related field preferred

 

Thoroughly appreciates children and seeks to develop them and disciple them

 

Demonstrates wisdom, emotional discipline and timeliness in decision-making

 

Values positive relationships and evidences relationship-building skills especially listening

 

Supports the doctrinal statement of the school

 

Demonstrates a Biblical educational philosophy relevant to 21st century students

 

Professional appearance, written and oral communication skills, time management skills

 

Demonstrates competency using and integrating technology

    Personal Qualifications   

Has a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, evidencing spiritual maturity

 

Attends a church with a doctrinal statement consistent with the school's doctrinal statement

 

Is trustworthy and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit in speech and deeds

    Supervision and evaluation   

Instructional substitute staff is supervised by the appropriate principal. 

    Commitment required    

Substitute instructional staff is expected to be in the building from 7:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on all school days.
