Job description

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tray passing drinks, desserts, and hors d'oeuvres
  • Setting tables and decorating/setting up food stations
  • Assisting catering chefs with assembly
  • Attending to food stations
  • Bussing trash and plates to ensure the party is always clean
  • Scullery
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Assist with loading and unloading of catering vans

THE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tidy, well-groomed appearance with pressed white button down, black slacks, and black shoes
  • High school diploma or associate degree in culinary studies or food and hospitality management
  • Prior experience in a food-serving establishment, preferably catering server experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of stamina to work to work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to work well under intense time pressure
  • Dedication to on-time arrival for shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry trays, plates and smallwares
  • Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
  • Polite and hospitable attitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be willing to work at events throughout the Los Angeles area
  • Must have a passion for food
  • Bartending skills a plus

Bites & Bashes is a rapidly expanding Los Angeles-based catering company by mother-daughter duo Julie and Crystal Coser. Crystal studied food science and food history at Harvard University while throwing events for the 8,000-student college before working at an experiential agency in Hollywood. She also is the former Associate Editor of Eater LA. Julie is a Cordon Bleu-trained chef who has been in the restaurant and catering industry for 25 years.
