Job description

Position Overview

The St. Petersburg Catholic High School Barons Baseball Program is seeking an experienced and energetic Assistant Baseball Coach to assist in all aspects of player development and daily program operations. The successful candidate will be expected to teach advanced baseball fundamentals, support practice planning, contribute to game preparation, and help establish a championship culture built upon accountability, discipline, faith, and servant leadership.

This position requires a coach who is passionate about developing complete student-athletes while helping advance the long-term success of the Barons Baseball Program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting efficient, high-tempo daily practices.

  • Provide advanced instruction in hitting, infield, outfield, catching, baserunning, and defense.

  • Teach baseball fundamentals through progressive skill development drills and individualized instruction.

  • Assist with implementation of offensive systems, defensive alignments, situational baseball, and game strategy.

  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback that supports continuous improvement.

  • Assist with scouting opponents, preparing game plans, charting games, and analyzing player performance.

  • Help oversee pregame preparation, field setup, equipment management, and postgame responsibilities.

  • Reinforce program standards regarding discipline, accountability, work ethic, communication, and sportsmanship.

  • Build positive relationships with student-athletes while mentoring them academically, spiritually, and personally.

  • Support offseason player development, strength and conditioning initiatives, camps, fundraising events, and community engagement activities.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach to support the continued growth and success of the Barons Baseball Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience required.

  • Previous high school coaching experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced baseball instruction and player development.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Pass a Level II background screening and complete Diocesan safe environment protocols.
