Job description

Commonwealth Rolled Products is a leading manufacturer of Aluminum rolled products for the Automotive, Commercial, and Industrial markets. The Company operates its production facility in Lewisport, KY with the support of an Automotive Innovation Center for R&D, Sales and Field Service in Madison Heights (DET), and Inside Sales in the Cleveland, OH area.
We are seeking to add a talented a Payroll Coordinator to its Human Resources team. The position is located in Lewisport, KY. The purpose of this role is administering all employee group payrolls.
Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.
  • Live and champion the Commonwealth Rolled Products core values; Safety Matters, One Team, Customer Focus, and Own Excellence.

Timekeeping Process
  • Manage all aspects of the payroll time and attendance process
    o Accountable for ensuring quality administration and accurate processing of weekly hours worked for employees which include hourly, and salaried non-exempt
    o Edit hours worked rules, exceptions, and timecard adjustments in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
    o Create pay adjustment files as needed (grievances, upgrades, health club, military, etc)
    o Update shifts, pay rules and area changes
    o Performs pre and post audits of the payroll process.
    o Reviews supervisor time entries to ensure that information is properly recorded and that records have the authorized approvals for employees.
    o Validate all pay related transactions such as benefit changes, pay changes, time off, new hires and terminations
  • Expert in the Collective Bargaining Agreement as it relates to pay related issues.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all employee information.
  • Process child support withholding notices, garnishments, and maintain associated deductions
  • Audit and process Employee Change Notices
  • Maintain various deduction updates (LOA update requests, uniforms, union deductions)
  • Maintain and administer vacation policy with respect to payouts, carryovers and accruals
  • Calculate and create gainshare payout files
  • Perform annual union pay increase update and audit
  • Administer various allowances and payouts in accordance with policies (uniform, fire brigade, tuition reimbursement, etc.)
  • Assist in the maintenance of Human Resource Information System records, password resets, tax jurisdiction updates, personnel files, and internal and/or external audits.
  • Conduct timekeeping training for supervisors and new hires
  • Fulfill reporting requirements (weekly, monthly, quarterly, as well as adhoc reporting on demand)
  • Maintain a positive interface with employees, the HR staff, and management regarding payroll questions and employee requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Manager, Benefits, Payroll & HRIS.

Timekeeping System Management
  • Modify and maintain configurations including but not limited to, pay rules, calculated accruals, schedules, shifts, Holidays, work rules, time clocks in accordance with governance requirements, application procedures and business policies.
  • Adjust pay rules for Outages
  • Engage with end-users to resolve issues with clocks, overtime and holiday calculations, and payroll processing.
    Reporting
  • Month end reporting for gainshare, non-union hours, safety, YTD OT percentage, Department hours, etc.
  • Check requests for employee deductions (union dues, food bank, PAC).
  • Weekly reporting to Manager, Human Resources

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. in management, human resources or related field required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Business Applications software, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and manage competing priorities to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate timeline and deadline changes during holiday weeks or other condensed payroll processing periods.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must have ability to learn quickly and work in fast-paced environment to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to analyze and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to recognize data needed in order to make decisions, collect that data, and analyze in order to determine direction in which to proceed.
  • Ability and desire to have continued growth within the human resources function.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of payroll and accounting/audit experience.
  • UKG Pro and WFM experience.
